Firmer, plumper, denser skin… that's everything this relatively unknown and underutilized molecule in the beauty sphere promises. An ingredient that might just become the star of your skincare routine!
While we know and acknowledge hyaluronic acid (HA) as the most sought-after anti-dehydration ingredient in the cosmetic world, little is said about this molecule… which is four times more hydrating: polyglutamic acid or PGA. This humectant ingredient, extracted from nattō, a Japanese specialty made of fermented soybeans, is used to combat skin dehydration and, therefore, to delay the appearance of wrinkles.
Combatting Hydration Loss
An ultra-powerful ingredient, polyglutamic acid creates an invisible film on the skin capable of trapping and retaining moisture within cells. It’s now known that it can retain up to 5000 times its weight in water, compared to 1000 times for HA. Because it is composed of molecules larger in size than hyaluronic acid, PGA can form this protective film on the skin and thus prevent hydration loss.
Turning Back Time
In essence, polyglutamic acid, thanks to its profoundly hydrating action, helps correct signs of aging, fill in wrinkles, and delay the loss of skin elasticity (more effectively than hyaluronic acid and collagen). The complexion is more radiant, and the facial skin is plumper and more "plumpy".
