Is Zelensky forced to concede Crimea to Russia?

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he believed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was ready to concede Crimea to Russia and that he was "very disappointed" with the Kremlin's position in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.

Aboard Air Force One, which took him from his New Jersey golf course to Washington, Mr Trump revealed that he had briefly discussed Crimea with the Ukrainian and that he believed Mr Zelensky was ready to concede the peninsula invaded by Russia in 2014 and subsequently annexed, because it was something that "happened 12 years ago".

"It's President Obama's fault. They conceded it without a shot being fired. So don't talk to me about Crimea. Let them talk about Crimea with Obama and Biden," said Mr Trump, referring to the conversation he had with the Ukrainian president on Saturday at the Vatican, during Pope Francis's funeral.
