The British Superbikes Championship has tragically bid farewell to two popular and respected young participants this year.

Live on television, it was shown how in the very first corner of the race at the Oulton Park circuit, no less than eleven riders crashed during the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race. The 21-year-old Owen Jenner and the 29-year-old Shane Richardson did not survive this crash. The event was immediately halted.

Owen Jenner (21) was treated by the side of the track but succumbed to a head injury, despite further resuscitation in the medical centre of the circuit. Shane Richardson (29)was also treated at the circuit before being transferred to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with a severe chest injury. He had already passed away before he arrived there. Five other riders were treated on-site and did not need to be taken to hospital.
