A recent study conducted by the Touring Club Suisse shows that some car seat models from well-known brands have a problem. To the point that a test resulted in a severe score, prompting parents not to choose them.
Do you want the best safety for your children in the car? Currently, according to tests on 17 seats conducted by the TCS in Switzerland in 2024, the safest brand in overall rating for child seats is Doona. It specialises in very young children (40 – 85cm). The category is also dominated by Thule, both for safety and for the ergonomics and materials used. Britax Römer seats range from very good for the Baby-Safe Core to an average score (yellow code) for the same seat with the optional base! It's probably best to trust the Isofix hooks of your car after all.
A truly dangerous seat
For older children, you can rely on Besafe. Britax Römer is disappointing, particularly in safety, although still in the green. However, Maxi-Cosi has a problem. Unlike the Rodfix R, which is on target, its Rodfix M seat is "not recommended" with a score of 45%, mainly due to the detection of pollutants. It's not as bad as the Graco Snuglite i-Size seat with a red code and a meagre 16%. Yet, it's among the best in terms of safety in an accident. But, it uses substances that are far too toxic for babies...
