Putin gives in and offers massive concession to halt war

Vladimir Putin has reportedly offered to end the war as part of peace talks with the Trump administration, according to the Financial Times.

Moscow was forced to respond after Washington threatened to withdraw from its role as a mediator if both warring nations failed to make compromises to enable a lasting peace deal.

During a meeting in St. Petersburg with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, the Russian president is said to have expressed his willingness to end the conflict immediately—on the condition that Russia retains the territory it has already captured.

This would mean the Kremlin would drop its claim to full control over the four partially occupied Ukrainian regions.

It marks the first time that Putin has made a significant concession that could help move peace negotiations forward.

According to the British outlet, the Trump administration is reportedly willing to recognize Crimea as part of Russia, along with other Russian-held territories captured since the beginning of the conflict.
