A fleet of Chinese warships remains stationed in the Pacific Ocean in response to the American presence of the Nimitz aircraft carrier and next-generation multi-mission destroyer Michael Monsoor in the Pacific.

The incursion was reported by the Japanese military a few weeks ago, after they spotted three Chinese warships crossing waters southwest of the Japanese island and heading towards the Philippines.

Although the reason for the Chinese fleet's incursion into this area is unclear, tensions in the region have started to rise. Indeed, it is home to the First Island Chain, a natural barrier stretching from the Kuril Islands to Singapore via Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

This region is a key area for both the United States and China, which already has the world's largest navy with 370 ships and submarines, and which deployed a fleet of three Chinese warships to tour around Australia this year.
