After launching a massive drone attack last week, on the night of May 6 to 7, Ukraine caused true chaos in the Russian skies.
Numerous Russian airports, including those in Moscow, were paralysed following this attack, one of the largest conducted by Kyiv against Russia, reports the Moscow Times. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, no fewer than 524 aircraft were destroyed during the night.
"Restrictions were imposed to ensure the safety of civilian aircraft flights", stated the spokesperson for the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Artyom Korenyako.
Flight delays and cancellations
Russian airlines had no choice but to take safety measures by delaying or cancelling certain flights. According to the Russian-speaking media outlet Meduza, nearly 140 flights to or from the Russian capital were thus delayed. According to the Russian Tour Operators Association, about 60,000 travellers were affected by the delays or cancellations since Wednesday.
