Zelenskyy has had enough: ‘There must be tough consequences’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of “buying time” to prolong the war in Ukraine, just one day after a two-hour phone call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

Following the conversation, the U.S. president announced that peace talks would begin “immediately.” However, the Kremlin later clarified that no formal timeline for negotiations had been set, as Trump now wants the two warring nations to negotiate directly without U.S. involvement.

“If Russia continues to put forward unrealistic conditions and undermine progress, there must be tough consequences,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Putin expressed a willingness to work on a memorandum that could lead to a peace agreement.

Meanwhile, the European Union has adopted a fresh round of economic sanctions, including measures targeting Russia’s so-called “black fleet” — a network of ships accused of covertly delivering oil worldwide to evade Western restrictions.

Putin has also rejected a 30-day ceasefire proposal supported by both the U.S. and Ukraine, signaling continued resistance to any immediate de-escalation.
