Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned on Friday that Russia has begun assembling strategic military reserves, signaling potential plans for military operations beyond Ukraine’s borders.

Speaking at the Globsec conference in Prague, Sybiha said: "According to our intelligence, Russia has started to prepare strategic reserves, which indicates plans for combat operations not only in Ukraine."

He emphasized the need for international action to halt Moscow’s aggression: "Allies need full diplomatic mobilization to stop this war. This is not just a question for Ukraine. (Russian President Vladimir) Putin only understands strength, and right now it's crucial to apply sanctions in a timely manner, using them as economic weapons to pressure Russia."

This warning comes as Russia has intensified its drone attacks across Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, the European Union announced earlier this week that a new package of economic sanctions is ready and now awaits unanimous approval. However, Hungary and Slovakia—whose leaders are seen as close allies of Vladimir Putin—are expected to oppose the measures.

Despite a recent exchange of prisoners of war, peace talks between Ukraine and Russia remain at a standstill.
