Ukraine unveils its weapon of the future: Formidable for "blinding" the enemy

For the first time, Kiev has presented images of its new laser weapon. While its use on the battlefield is known to all, the Ukrainian authorities had not communicated on the subject until now. 

The first images of what is called the "Trident" were presented on Sunday, April 13, by the Ministry of Defence. According to the Ukrainian military, the laser weapon can combat both ballistic and cruise missiles, drones, aircraft, and even helicopters. It can blind them at 10km and destroy them at 5km. 

Targets at 10km

The Trident images were unveiled during a conference entitled "European Defence Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defence Industry", attended by Vadym Sukharevskyi, commander of the unmanned systems forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as reported by the media The Independent.

According to various tests, the laser enables the blinding of a drone's fibre optic camera at a distance of 10km. Until now, the laser weapon could not hit targets more than 2 kilometres away.
