In an interview with The Guardian, Andriy Yermak, chief advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, believes that a ceasefire is approaching.

He made these statements upon arriving in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. For Andriy Yermak, "a ceasefire in the war that the Russian Federation has been waging for three years in my country has never seemed so close", before stating "we're ready to do everything possible to achieve peace".

"A ceasefire in Ukraine won't be achieved solely through diplomatic gestures. A number of prerequisites are crucial to ensure that peace - when it comes - will be sustainable. These include exerting political and financial pressure on Russia to increase the cost of resuming the conflict," declared Mr. Yermak.

For its part, the Kremlin expects the United States to inform it about the Jeddah talks.

The special envoy of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, plans to travel to Moscow this week to meet with President Vladimir Putin.
