Ukraine has destroyed a Russian military convoy in a single strike using a U.S.-supplied HIMARS rocket system in the Donetsk region.
According to early reports, more than 20 Russian soldiers were killed and many others injured in the attack, which took place near the industrial city of Makiivka. The convoy consisted of military trucks and buses transporting personnel.
Makiivka, located east of Donetsk, has served as a key logistical hub for Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), provided by the United States, allows Ukrainian forces to target and destroy long-range enemy positions with high precision.
This strike comes as Russia ramps up its drone attacks across Ukraine in retaliation for the successful Ukrainian operation known as “Spider Web,” during which Kyiv reportedly damaged 41 Russian aircraft at several airbases in a coordinated long-range assault.
In another recent blow to Russian capabilities, Ukraine also destroyed a drone base in the Zaporizhzhia region.
