Ukraine has claimed that Russia has suffered over one million troop losses since the conflict began in February 2022.

The estimate, provided by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, aligns with figures reported by several Western intelligence agencies and highlights the staggering human cost Moscow has endured over three years of war.

The UK Ministry of Defence also confirmed the milestone in a post on X, stating that Russian losses have reached the one-million mark.

The announcement comes as Ukraine and Russia carried out a new prisoner exchange. Despite the exchange, peace negotiations remain stalled, with Russia ramping up drone attacks in recent weeks following the success of Ukraine's “Spider Web” operation.

That operation, conducted remotely using 117 drones, damaged 41 aircraft across multiple Russian airbases. As a result, Vladimir Putin was forced to relocate his strategic bombers further from the front lines to prevent them from being targeted in a similar strike.
