If the attack is confirmed, Ukraine has dealt a heavy blow to Vladimir Putin's forces.

The Ukrainian army, according to several observers, is believed to have launched a massive drone attack on Russian soil. The damage caused is particularly significant, with reports noting the destruction of one of the nerve centres of Russian intelligence, according to the media L'Indépendant.

The strike is said to have been carried out in the Stavropol region, more than 400 kilometres from the front. The drones sent by the Ukrainians would have managed to reach a secret military base, named Zvezda. According to the director of the Ukrainian Centre for Combating Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, it is "a key centre for Russia's space intelligence operations".

A base that supports Russian cyber espionage

For its part, the website united24media.com writes: "The facility is one of the main components of the Russian electronic space reconnaissance network and is linked to the main directorate of the general staff of the Russian armed forces."

Zvezda, which was built in the 1970s to intercept satellite communications, today supports cyber espionage.
