Ukraine missed occasion to end war

Ukraine allegedly attempted to target Russian President Vladimir Putin while he was traveling by helicopter in the Kursk region, according to local Russian media.

Major-General Yuri Dashkin of the Russian Air Force revealed that multiple drones were launched during a moment when the president was vulnerable in the air.

Dashkin said: “During the period when the President [Putin] was working in the Kursk region, the enemy launched an unprecedented attack with unmanned aerial vehicles. The air defence group in this area destroyed 46 aircraft-type [Ukrainian military drones].”

The Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, remains largely under Russian control, despite a surprise Ukrainian offensive in the area last summer.

Dashkin added: “The intensity of the attack during the flight of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s aircraft over the Kursk region increased significantly. We simultaneously conducted an air battle and ensured the safety of the presidential helicopter in the air. The task was accomplished. The enemy drone attack was repelled, and all aerial targets were destroyed.”

According to Dashkin, Ukrainian intelligence had reportedly been tipped off about Putin’s visit to the region in advance.
