US warns Iran is close to building nuclear weapons

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a stark warning, saying Iran is "too close for comfort" to acquiring nuclear weapons, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.

In an interview with Fox News from Turkey, Rubio accused Iran of being the main source of instability in the Middle East and warned of serious consequences if Tehran continues its current trajectory.

His comments come amid complex and ongoing negotiations between the two nations over a potential new nuclear deal. While the Trump administration is demanding that Iran completely abandon its nuclear program, Tehran insists that its nuclear activities are for peaceful, civilian purposes, not weapons development.

Rubio pointed out that uranium enrichment at 60% is dangerously close to the 90% threshold required for nuclear weapons, warning that Iran could quickly reach that level if left unchecked.

Meanwhile, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates, President Donald Trump commented on the situation, saying: "It'll be taken care of 100 percent. It'll be done nicely or not nicely. And the not nicely is not a good thing for them."
