Trump's special envoy to meet Putin in person

According to Russian state media, Russia's investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev met Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff in Saint Petersburg.

Media initially reported that Mr. Witkoff's meeting with Mr. Putin was in question. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman said he would announce such a meeting if the Russian leader's schedule allowed.

Later, the Kremlin spokesman stated that Mr. Putin would meet Mr. Witkoff.

According to him, the Russian leader intends to discuss "resolving the situation in Ukraine" with the American envoy. He indicated it was a good opportunity to convey Russia's position to Donald Trump.
