The American president has decided to remove the national security adviser Mike Waltz from his government.

The replacement of Mike Waltz, two days after the 100th day of Donald Trump at the White House, is the first major shake-up of this term.

It is the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who will temporarily hold both positions.
Mike Waltz thus pays the price for the infamous "Signalgate". As a reminder, he had added Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, to a discussion thread on the messaging app Signal where imminent attack plans on the Houthis in Yemen were being discussed.

In Trump's mind, the "Signalgate" was the first time he was unable to control the narrative.

"He came to view Waltz as a jinx, bad news", a White House official told Axios.
