The honeymoon between the two men is over; the US president does not wish to reconcile with Musk, who has unearthed allegations linking him to the Epstein sex scandal.
The US president Donald Trump has warned his former billionaire ally and campaign benefactor, who contributed hundreds of millions of dollars, Elon Musk, against funding Democratic candidates during the 2026 midterm elections, as the rift between the two continues to play out on the global stage.
"He will have to face very heavy consequences if he does that," Mr Trump told the American channel NBC News, without specifying what repercussions might await Musk.
Associates of Mr Trump, various Republicans and wealthy donors have urged the two men to tone down their feud and make peace, fearing irreparable political and economic fallout.
However, when asked whether he thought his relationship with the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX was over, Trump replied: "I suppose so, yes."
