According to the Wall Street Journal, the regional office of the US State Department has been tasked with promoting the initiative to return migrants expelled by the Trump administration to Serbia and Moldova.
The White House declined to comment on this request, while the State Department and the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to journalists’ inquiries.
The Trump administration is actively taking measures against illegal immigration and, during its first year in office, the US government intended to deport a million migrants.
The United States is currently negotiating with countries such as Serbia, Moldova, and the Republic of Kosovo to find places for the expelled migrants.
