It's excellent news for Boeing, as the American president has just awarded it the contract to build the F-47 fighter jet.
Donald Trump himself made the announcement in the Oval Office, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General David Allvin, and the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: the aviation giant Boeing has been awarded the construction of the most sophisticated fighter to date for the US Air Force, as part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, reports the media outlet L’Indépendant. The President of the United States also emphasised that it's the "most lethal machine ever built".
The NGAD program
The aim of the program is to replace the F-22 Raptor, designed by Lockheed Martin, with a plane capable of fighting alongside drones. Following the announcement of this development and engineering contract (amounting to over 20 billion dollars), Boeing's stock rose by 4.4% while Lockheed Martin's fell by 5.2%.
As reported by L’Indépendant, the US Air Force hopes to be able to deploy the F-47 by the next decade.
