The American president shared major news with the attending journalists at the White House on Wednesday (American time).
American president Donald Trump claims that he has an agreement with Russia and Ukraine about ending the war in Ukraine. However, Trump did amend and moderate his own statement a bit later.
"I think we have a deal with Russia", said Trump, emphasising that he now also needs to convince Ukraine and President Zelensky : "We need to have a deal with Zelensky." The American president said he thought it would be “easier” to reach an agreement with the Ukrainian president. "So far, it has proved to be more difficult, but that's okay", he stated. "But I think we have a deal with both. I hope they do", Trump added, saying he wants both to save money and save humanity.
Trump has not yet provided further details about an agreement with Russia. Whether or not Crimea will be recognised by the US as Russian territory, Trump could not or did not want to say. "Well, everything is fine. I just want to see the war stop, I don't care. If they are both satisfied, they both sign an agreement. I have no favourites, I don't want to have favourites, I want to get a deal done. I want to save lives."
