Trump has good news for China

The US President softens his tone in the trade war with China.

Donald Trump announced that he plans to be "very nice" during the negotiations for a possible trade agreement. "We are going to be very nice. They are going to be very nice, and we'll see what happens," he said about China during the appointment of Paul Atkins as the new chairman of the stock market watchdog SEC.

The US President emphasizes that tariffs will quickly decrease if both countries reach an agreement. "China needs such an agreement otherwise they won't be able to do business in the US," Trump added.

The Chinese currently pay an import duty of 145 percent on their exports to the US. In turn, the country has taken counter-measures with a levy of 125 percent on US goods.
