The US president allegedly prevented Elon Musk from attending a secret meeting concerning China (a sensitive issue). This is what the American news site Axios reports.

The meeting was supposed to take place on 21 March at the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense. The person appointed by Donald Trump himself as head of the Department of Government Efficiency was supposed to meet the Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth there. The goal? To obtain classified information on Washington's military plans in case of war with China.

And it was the intervention of the New York Times, which got wind of this famous meeting at the Pentagon and revealed it, that prompted Donald Trump to cancel the event. The occupant of the White House, after denouncing a “fake news”, nonetheless urged his collaborators to prevent the founder of SpaceX from attending the briefing. "What the hell is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn't go," Trump is said to have ordered.

Another meeting, another subject

The next day, Musk reportedly did take part in a meeting with Pete Hegseth on a completely different subject. A source close to the matter, reported by Axios, noted that "the president still likes Elon a lot, but there are red lines". And added: "Elon does a lot of business in China and maintains good relationships there. This briefing was simply not a good idea."

As a reminder, Elon Musk has been the subject of much criticism in recent months, denouncing his business activities with China through his company Tesla. He reportedly benefits from tax breaks from the Chinese authorities.
