Toy manufacturer Mattel wants to raise its prices in the United States due to the increasing import duties imposed by President Trump.
Mattel makes and sells Barbie and Hot Wheels, two toy products that are particularly popular with children, but which may now become more expensive for parents.
Exactly which toys are threatened with a price increase is not yet clear. "We will take action if necessary," said Mattel. At the same time, the company emphasized that nearly half of its toy range remains cheaper than 20 dollars. Additionally, the company is making efforts to relocate a larger part of its production from China.
Mattel produces about 40 percent of its global range in China, compared to an average of 80 percent in the sector. Last year, the American company already moved the production of about 280 items, with another 500 items to follow this year.
