During the night of 8 to 9 June, the Russian military airfield in Savasleika was damaged by a strike from the Ukrainian armed forces.

According to information from the Kyiv Post, the Russian airfield is located nearly 650 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. The target, according to the Ukrainian media outlet, reportedly houses MiG-31K fighter jets, which are used to carry Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.

"Two Russian aircraft (possibly MiG-31s and Su-30/34s) were hit. The results of the fighting are still being clarified," stated the Ukrainian General Staff, as quoted by RBC Ukraine.
