Trump secretly plans to send migrants to two African countries

The Trump administration has held discussions with Rwanda and Libya about the possibility of relocating migrants with criminal records from the U.S. to those countries, several sources told CNN.

Back in January, President Donald Trump directed senior officials to pursue international agreements that would allow the transfer of asylum seekers to third-party nations.

The United States already has an agreement with El Salvador, which has accepted Venezuelan inmates into one of its high-security prisons.

While talks have been initiated with Rwanda and Libya, no formal agreements have been signed yet, CNN reports.

During a recent cabinet meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the administration was in discussions with additional countries that might be willing to accept undocumented migrants currently in the U.S.

“We are working with other countries to say, ‘We want to send you some of the most despicable human beings to your countries. Will you do that as a favor to us?’ And the farther away, the better, so they can’t come back across the border,” Rubio said.
