Relations between Donald Trump and Elon Musk are not at their best. Since the Tesla CEO left his government post, it seems the bromance has come to an abrupt end.

The major budget bill, championed by the US president, continues to be the subject of fierce criticism from Elon Musk. And while the Senate considers its contents, the richest man in the world is making no secret of his anger.

"It's obvious, given the staggering spending in the bill—which raises the debt ceiling by a record $5 trillion—that we live in a one-party state: the party of pigs who gorge themselves," Musk, who was tasked with reducing federal spending with his Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, tweeted on his platform X (formerly Twitter). Musk also issued a serious warning: if the bill passes, he will not hesitate to launch a new party and fund the campaigns of candidates opposing the current congressmen during the Republican primaries, reports the media outlet 20 Minutes.

Without the United States, "he should go home."

These statements were not well received by the White House tenant. Earlier this week, on his Truth Social network, Donald Trump emphasized that the subsidies his former ally received from the American government allowed him to remain in the United States. Without them, he "would have to close up shop and go home to South Africa."

And according to information from the Congressional Budget Office, which is responsible for assessing the fiscal consequences of bills in a "non-partisan manner," this "great and beautiful bill" would increase the American public debt by more than $3 trillion within nine years, or by 2034.
