The tariffs imposed by Donald Trump have already shaken global markets, aimed at reducing the United States' dependence on foreign countries — but some Americans are speaking out against the decision.

Elon Musk, recently appointed by the president to head the Department of Government Efficiency, openly criticized Peter Navarro, the architect behind the tariff framework.

Although the Tesla CEO is a strong supporter of the president, Musk was unhappy with the decision, which reportedly wiped out $30 billion in market value from his company, according to CNBC.

Responding to a video shared on X in which Navarro defended his tariff strategy, Musk commented that it was a "bad thing."

"A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing. Results in the ego/brains >> 1 problem," he wrote.

Tesla has had a rough start to 2025, with sales falling 13% in the first quarter.
