Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that it is impossible to force Russia to negotiate, in an interview relayed on Telegram by Pavel Zarubin, host of the TV show "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin."
For Peskov, "only logic and arguments can bring Russia to the negotiating table. It is impossible to pressure Russia by force."
He warned against the policy of sanctions against Russia due to the war in Ukraine.
"The tougher the sanctions package, which, I repeat, we consider illegal, the stronger the response will be, like the recoil of a rifle on the shoulder," said Peskov, emphasizing that sanctions are a "double-edged sword."
For the Kremlin, these sanctions harm not only Russia, but also the countries that impose them. These measures have a negative impact on the global economy, undermine the foundations of international trade and economic relations, and cause direct harm to European and Western economies, such as rising energy prices and loss of access to Russian markets.
