The return date for two astronauts stranded in space has been changed once again.

NASA officials announced that Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are now expected to return to Earth on March 16, after spending nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Originally scheduled for an eight-day mission, their return has been repeatedly delayed due to technical issues with their Boeing spacecraft.

The two astronauts will return aboard a SpaceX spacecraft, owned by Elon Musk, which is already docked at the ISS. However, they cannot leave until a replacement crew arrives.

The next mission, Crew-10, is set to launch on March 12, carrying four astronauts who will arrive at the ISS the following day.

Williams and Wilmore initially arrived at the ISS on June 5, 2024, expecting to stay for just eight days.
