A personal meeting between Vladimir Putin and the Ukrainian and American presidents, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, is possible if the next round of Russo-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul yields results.

This is what the Kremlin's official spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, has just announced.

"Putin has stated several times that he is fundamentally open to contacts at the highest level; of course, such contacts are requested, but they need to be prepared, and first, an outcome needs to be achieved in direct talks between the delegations of the two countries. If such a result is achieved, and when it is, then, of course, we can consider contacts at the highest level," he declared.

Peskov also commented on Washington's willingness to halt NATO expansion eastwards, as previously stated by Trump's special envoy, Keith Kellogg. He described Moscow's concerns over a potential expansion of the alliance to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova as justified. "Alright, overall, we can prevent NATO from expanding up to your borders. It's a matter of security," Kellogg said. American statements that meet the demands dictated by Moscow.
