Few things are as beneficial to good health as a good night's sleep. Eating a kiwi can help you drift off to dreamland faster.

That is the conclusion reached by scientists at Columbia University in the United States. Their study, published in 2016, shows that eating one or two kiwis an hour before bedtime can help to fall asleep faster and improve sleep quality.

In the Columbia University study, a group of 24 people were monitored who ate two kiwis every evening an hour before bedtime for four weeks. They were found to fall asleep 42% faster than those who did not.

Thanks to its content of serotonin (the hormone that helps regulate the sleep cycle), vitamin C, and carotenoids, the kiwi has an anti-inflammatory effect and promotes natural sleep. Moreover, it's easy to incorporate into your evening routine and offers other benefits, such as improving your mood, quality of life, and gut health.
