The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has revealed that Iran is not complying with its nuclear commitments and appears to be increasing its uranium enrichment activities.
According to IAEA experts, Tehran has breached the terms outlined in the nuclear agreement and is now being asked to allow inspections of its nuclear infrastructure. The development comes just days before U.S. and Iranian officials are expected to meet in Oman for another round of negotiations over a potential new nuclear deal.
Despite these talks, significant differences remain. Washington continues to demand the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, while Tehran insists its intentions are strictly peaceful and the program is meant solely for civilian purposes.
Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, confirmed that a new uranium enrichment site has already been constructed and could become operational once centrifuges are installed.
Earlier this week, Iran warned it would target U.S. military bases in the region if Washington were to launch a preemptive strike. The tension adds further uncertainty to the negotiations.
U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking this week, expressed growing skepticism about reaching an agreement with Tehran.
“I don’t know. I did think so, and I’m getting more and more — less confident about it,” he said, accusing Iran of stalling the process.
