The Starline continental high-speed rail network is a major metropolitan project. It plans to connect 39 major cities with ultra-fast trains and new stations by 2040.
Starline is a flagship project aimed at connecting 39 cities across Europe, as far away as the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Ukraine, with trains running at speeds of 300 to 400km/h.
The network will consist of five interconnected lines covering 22,000km, with the aim of making travel between cities extremely fast.
Alongside Starline, major projects to expand urban metro networks are underway in cities such as Paris, Stockholm, and Helsinki.
New stations will be built outside major cities, designed as community centers with restaurants, shops, and cultural spaces.
In its press release, the Danish think tank 21st Europe announces "rethinking how design, technology, and culture can create a seamless, sustainable, and exciting infrastructure. Imagine blue high-speed trains gliding effortlessly across borders, transforming a patchwork of national lines into a single, unified experience. Railways have never been just a means of transport. They are lines drawn through history and society. 'Starline' aims to redraw them, not to divide, but to connect. To make the continent whole again."
