Do you, as a coffee shop owner, think someone is taking too long over their coffee? Then follow the example of a bar owner in Barcelona...

It is surely a source of frustration for many restaurant and café owners: customers who occupy a table for a long time but stick to just one drink or one snack. A coffee shop owner in Barcelona's Barceloneta district, in Spain, has found a solution: he varies the price of a coffee depending on how long you take to finish it. The prices are clearly marked (in Spanish and English) on the price list.

For example, a café con leche costs €1.60 if you drink it in less than half an hour. If you take longer than 30 minutes, the price rises to €2.50. If you spend more than 1 hour at a table while slowly sipping that coffee with milk, you will have to pay €4.
