Since 1981, the restaurant Georges Blanc in Vonnas, located in the Ain department, in the south-east of France, had three Michelin stars. After more than forty years, it has now lost its third star.

No other restaurant listed in the famous Michelin Guide had held a star for such a long time.

The restaurant Georges Blanc has been around for 153 years and received its first star in 1929 under the grandmother of the current chef, the 82-year-old Georges Blanc. It was only since 1926 that the Michelin Guide began awarding stars to high-class restaurants. In 1931, Blanc's grandmother, Élisa, also received the second star.

On March 31st, the Michelin Guide will announce the new list of starred restaurants. Establishments that lose a star are informed earlier.
