Several Republican senators have called for an investigation after a journalist was mistakenly added to a private Signal chat group that included members of the U.S. government.

The journalist, who works for The Atlantic, was accidentally included in a conversation discussing the U.S. strategy against the Houthis in Yemen. Participants in the chat included U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

On Wednesday, The Atlantic published excerpts from the confidential discussions, revealing details about the planned attacks on Yemen, including the targets and the timing of the operations.

According to The Hill, several Republican senators are urging relevant committees, such as the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Armed Services Committee, to launch an investigation into the incident.

During an appearance on Fox News, White House national security adviser Mike Waltz accepted responsibility for the breach, admitting he had personally added Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, to the group.

"I take full responsibility. I built the group. It's embarrassing. We're going to get to the bottom of it," Waltz said.
