Mark Zuckerberg has publicly stated that the end of the cell phone is inevitable and that smartphones will soon be replaced by smart glasses, ushering in a new technological era.

Meta's CEO believes that mobile phones have reached their limits and will gradually be abandoned in favour of more natural devices that are integrated into everyday life.

According to him, smart glasses will offer the ability to film, listen, translate, and interact with augmented reality without a screen in hand.

Mark Zuckerberg believes that by 2030, the majority of people will favour smart glasses for most everyday uses, making smartphones an accessory, often relegated to pockets rather than hands. The glasses would be able to provide real-time information, translate languages, and interact vocally without having to consult a screen.

Mark Zuckerberg does not envision smartphones as the final form of technological evolution and is banking on augmented reality for the next step. Augmented reality glasses have two uses. First, they display holograms in the real world to give a true sense of presence. It's also the ideal support for artificial intelligence which will be able to see and hear the same thing as its wearer, but also display information discreetly.
