Ukraine is clearly not the only one developing its expertise in drones.
Moscow is also expanding its capabilities. It was the Russian news agency TASS that announced it at the beginning of April: the Kremlin has designed a weapon capable of destroying Ukrainian drones.
On the Russian side, there's now an anti-drone laser rifle to counter enemy attacks. The designer, quoted by TASS, specifies that it's a weapon whose "laser beam destroys the drone's body, propeller, engines, and battery", capable of "shooting down drones at a distance of 500 metres".
A major argument in negotiations
This laser rifle was developed as part of the Posokh project, "aiming to counter drones through focused laser emission". And according to TASS, the Russians haven't yet used this weapon in the field. It was, however, presented at a conference in Saint Petersburg on March 27 and 28. As highlighted by the media L’Indépendant, it could become a significant argument in the ongoing negotiations.
