Russia forced into lockdown due to Ukraine attacks

Russia was forced to cut off internet access and close airspace in parts of the Oryol region following a wave of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.

Flights from Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports were temporarily suspended, causing major disruptions to air traffic and leaving thousands of travelers stranded.

This marks the third consecutive day of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting multiple regions across Russia, as peace talks between the two countries remain stalled following Donald Trump’s announcement that he would no longer be involved in mediation efforts.

Over the past 72 hours, Russian authorities claim to have shot down 485 drones. Internet access in the Oryol region was cut, according to a message from the regional governor on Telegram.

The Tula region also experienced an internet outage on Wednesday. “Friends, this is not the first time we’ve faced restrictions on mobile internet. Today, it has happened again... Safety comes first. I ask for your understanding regarding these measures,” wrote Tula Governor Dmitry Milyaev on social media.
