Russia seeks to amass troops at the Romanian border

Russia wants to take control of Odessa. "Next, the enemy plans to reach the border with Romania and Moldova," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the Ukraine-South-Eastern Europe summit held in Odessa.

The Ukrainian head of state emphasised that Odessa is a target for Russia.

"Russia wants to destroy it, as it has done to countless cities and villages in the occupied territories. Russian military plans target this region – Odessa – and then the border with Moldova and Romania," he added.

At the same time, Mr Zelensky stressed that the Odessa region is "one of Russia's main targets" to provoke chaos.

"We have already seen this in the Balkans, where Russia has fuelled interethnic tensions, carried out acts of sabotage and even attempted coups," he noted.

The president recalled that there had already been attempts by Russia to manipulate public opinion in Romania.
