Russia directly threatens Japan with 'severe measures'

Russia has threatened Japan with 'severe measures' if Tokyo provides weapons and military equipment to Ukraine.

"We would like to warn that any steps taken by Japan to participate directly or indirectly in supplying Ukraine with weapons and military equipment used to kill Russian citizens, or to assist in the training of Ukrainian soldiers, is considered an unequivocally hostile act," stated the spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, in a press release. Ms Zakharova was commenting on the news of Japan's interest in joining the NATO command for its mission in Ukraine. Moscow warned that if Japan continued on this path, Tokyo would face "more severe measures, which would significantly harm Japan's interests in the most sensitive areas".
