Russia betrayed by its powerful ally

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated publicly that the friendship between Russia and China is unshakeable. He added that their strategic, military, and economic cooperation had entered a golden age.

But according to the New York Times, in the corridors of Lubyanka, the headquarters of the FSB, Chinese officials are described as "enemies".

According to the report, a unit of the FSB has warned that China represents a serious threat to Russia's security. Its officers claim that Beijing is increasingly trying to recruit Russian spies and acquire military technologies. Sometimes, they entice dissatisfied Russian scientists.

They state that China is spying on Russian military operations in Ukraine to gather information about Western weapons and warfare methods. Intelligence officers fear that Chinese scientists are laying the groundwork to lay claim to Russian territory. They have also warned that Chinese intelligence services are engaged in espionage in the Arctic. They use mining companies and university research centres as cover.
