Robert De Niro's latest fight for his daughter

Robert De Niro has expressed his support for his daughter after she came out as transgender.

The actor's daughter, Airyn, aged 29, opened up about her journey and transition during an interview.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, her father said: "I loved and supported Aaron as a son, and now I love and support Airyn as a daughter. I don't see where the problem is, I love all my children."

De Niro has 7 children including Airyn's twin brother, Julian.

Airyn stated: "There's a difference between being visible and being seen. I have been visible, but I don't think I have been seen yet."

She added that "the fact that transgender women are honest and open, especially in public spaces such as social media, and can be seen in their success" made her realise "maybe it's not too late for me".
