On Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, better known as PSG, won the Champions League for the first time in its history. The Italian Internazionale was easily brushed aside 5-0. But it is mostly what happened after the match that, sadly, will stick in many people's memories.
Strangely enough, there were not only celebrations in Paris but also riots broke out after the Champions League final victory. PSG fans attacked police and each other, and considerable damage was caused in the French capital. During the riots following the match, two people lost their lives and as many as 192 others were injured.
The first fatality was a 23-year-old man who was hit by a car while on his scooter. The second victim, a 17-year-old young man, was fatally stabbed. A police officer who had fireworks explode in his eye ended up in a coma. In total, the police arrested 559 troublemakers.
