The Russian president proposed a ceasefire from 8th to 10th May, during the Second World War commemorations in Moscow. A proposal the Ukrainian president does not look upon favourably.

Volodymyr Zelensky refuses to “play” with the short truces of the Kremlin leader. He sees them as too short for serious talks, according to the media outlet 20 Minutes. On its part, Moscow believes this brief pause will allow it to “test” the Ukrainians' willingness for peace.

We need to be serious

“It's impossible to agree on something in three, five or seven days. Let's be honest. It's a theatrical performance on his part. In two or three days, it's impossible to find a plan to establish the next steps to end the war. It doesn’t seem serious,” declared the Ukrainian leader. And added: “No one will help Putin play this kind of game,” not clearly ruling out this three-day ceasefire for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Allies' victory over nazi Germany.
