Russian President Vladimir Putin has just called up 160,000 young Russians to bolster his troops. It is the largest conscription in 14 years. Putin signed a decree for this on Monday. In the coming months, 160,000 men between the ages of 18 and 30 will receive a conscription order.
If no ceasefire is reached, these Russian soldiers could therefore be sent to the front in Ukraine. This shows that Putin is far from impressed by Trump's threats. The American president had indeed suggested last weekend that his patience with the Russian president was wearing thin. He was 'pissed off', it sounded. 'If Russia and I don't succeed in making a deal to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it's Russia's fault, then I will impose secondary duties on all oil from Russia.' But Putin is apparently not impressed and promptly calls up 160,000 fresh forces. By next year, Putin also wants to expand the army to 1.5 million soldiers.
