An American professor left some of her former students a big surprise: after her death, her favourite students saw a handsome sum appear in their bank accounts.
Cris Hassold taught art history for fifty years at the New College of Florida and left a legacy of 2.8 million dollars after her death at the age of 89. She bequeathed this to 31 former students and five loved ones.
The amounts ranged from 26,000 to 560,000 dollars, depending on the relationship they had with her. The surprise only came to light a year after her passing.
Hassold was known for being strict and demanding, but those who appreciated her approach often became confidants. She lived frugally, drove an old car, and had a neglected house, making her wealth all the more surprising.
