President Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a significant hit following the widespread “No Kings” protests that swept across the United States.

According to the latest poll released this week, Trump’s approval rating has fallen by six points, dropping to 46%, while 52% of Americans now say they disapprove of his actions in office.

Christy Setzer, a Democratic strategist, told Newsweek: “Trump won on two issues: the economy and immigration. Now that voters are seeing what that means — higher prices, global economic instability, and a politics of cruelty that kidnaps law-abiding people off the street — it’s no surprise that they’re not liking what they’re seeing.

The “No Kings” demonstrations erupted in several major U.S. cities, including Detroit, Los Angeles, and Portland. According to political analyst G. Elliott Morris, between 4 and 6 million people took part in the protests.

The unrest was sparked by Trump’s decision to deploy 40,000 National Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines to Los Angeles, following reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers had come under attack during deportation operations.
